Dr. Heryawan’s research centers on advancing medical informatics through innovative computational approaches. His work spans multiple areas including electronic health record systems, medical coding automation, and healthcare interoperability standards. He has made significant contributions to medical text processing, particularly in automated diagnosis detection and medical concept extraction from clinical documents.

His recent research focuses on implementing HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards to improve healthcare data exchange and developing intelligent systems for medical coding and classification. Dr. Heryawan has also worked extensively on medical terminology systems, including Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) classification and clinical abbreviation processing.

Through his leadership of SENADA Lab, Dr. Heryawan supervises research projects that bridge computer science and healthcare, developing practical solutions for medical data management and clinical decision support. His work contributes to improving healthcare delivery through better information systems and data analytics approaches.
